Constructing Costume Histories: Illuminating the Value and Heritage of Making Costume in Britain (CCH) is a research project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council that establishes the central role of costume making and costume makers in the long and vibrant history of British performance. We will be working in collaboration with five industry partners, each of which represents a different approach to costume making and/or a different performance context: Cosprop Film Costumiers, Leeds Playhouse, the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, the Royal Opera House and the School of Historical Dress.
Led by Dr Veronica Isaac (University of Brighton) and Dr Jade Halbert (University of Leeds), CCH will inaugurate the first tangible and enduring record of the haptic and ephemeral issues unique to this overlooked but critical creative sector.
